About Department

Ondokuz Mayıs University, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering has a young and dynamic teaching staff consisting of 4 associate professors and 2 assistant professors. The Department, which gave its first graduates in 2012, goes further every year academically since its foundation. Since our department has been providing 30% English in the last two years, there is a compulsory preparatory class.The department has Metallography Laboratory, Ceramic Laboratory, Polymer Laboratory, Simulation Laboratory and Composite Laboratory, and students get applied training in these laboratories. The main objective of the department is to train technologically advanced engineers, who can take responsibilities and have problem solving ability, in the fields of biomedical materials and medical devices, nanotechnology, aerospace and advanced technology, and contribute to the accumulation of industry. In addition, our department train entrepreneur individuals who can use presentation tools, modern engineering calculations and utilize the engineering techniques effectively to formulate and solve material problems. Thanks to the scientific infrastructure they have gained, our graduate students will be able to develop the production and application areas of traditional and high technology materials with the R & D studies that will provide the basis for shaping the present and the future at the national and international level, in cooperation with the industry.
