"Engineering and Industry Meetings" were held with great interest

The International Society for Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, operating within the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at Ondokuz Mayıs University, organized the “Engineering and Industry Meetings” event on April 27-28, 2026. Hosted by the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, the event aimed to strengthen university-industry collaboration and contribute to the career development of students.

The event was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, Rector's Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Korunur Engiz, and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Yılmaz, the society's advisor Prof. Dr. Sevim Alışır, representatives from Samsun Technopark, the OMÜ Technology Transfer Office, academics, and students. In the opening speeches, the importance of increasing interaction between the university and industry for the professional development of students was emphasized, and particular attention was drawn to the necessity of students developing themselves through project-based work.

During the two-day event, experienced industry representatives met with students to share their knowledge and experience. The event, featuring invited speakers from various sectors, allowed industry representatives to share their career journeys and experiences with our students.

In their presentations, the speakers made important assessments regarding production processes, R&D activities, current developments in the sector, and the future of the engineering profession. Students had the opportunity to ask industry representatives questions directly and gain valuable insights into their careers throughout the event.

The "Engineering and Industry Meetings," attended by approximately 800 students and attracting great interest, created a productive platform where academic knowledge met industrial applications, while also significantly contributing to the development of students' career visions. The event concluded with a raffle for prizes such as language school courses, overseas language training, gym memberships, food and beverages provided by sponsoring companies, and the presentation of plaques to the speakers.
